"On the Silk Road" is an enhanced version of the first Gateless Gate album from 2012.
The album is a mixture of Krautrock and ambient music with influences from Central Asian music. Please note that in no way is this album meant to replace real, genuine Central Asian music in your collection; it's merely a strong influence. I encourage you to seek out great music from the Mongol, Uyghur, and Buryat cultures.
This album is a musical, mystical journey through the historic sites of the Silk Road, from majestic peaks (Tian Shan, Kunlun) to ancient Buddhist cave paintings (Dunhuang, Bezeklik) and other natural wonders (Lop Nur). Influences include the music of Popol Vuh, Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel, and other Germanic psychedelic groups.
This enhanced version is completely remixed, remastered, and contains new instrumentation in places. Listeners who are already familiar with the original will enjoy a greatly improved experience.
